I was happy to complete my Wahlstation (part of the practical formation of lawyers in Germany) as an intern with Heskia Hacmun in Tel Aviv from October 2011 to December 2011. Heskia Hacmun has a young and friendly team of lawyers and staff members. I received a very warm welcome and the ambiance at the firm is relaxed.
As Heskia Hacmun is an internationally operating law firm, my tasks often had an international background. My work consisted in writing legal opinions on questions of German law, but also to be in touch with clients, German authorities or other lawyers. I also did translations of German or French texts into English. As to the legal fields I had to deal with, my tasks covered questions of restitution and compensation, but also insolvency, citizenship and inheritance law. Most of the time I worked with Adi, the junior of the firm, who always took great care of me. I also had the occasion to attend appointments outside the firm. Thus Amos and Dor, the partners of the firm, took me with them to a court hearing, to the annual reception of the German embassy and the annual meeting of the Israeli-German lawyers association, which was held in Haifa and Jerusalem.
It is important for all members of the team that foreign interns have the opportunity to discover Israel, so I found enough time during my stay to discover a lot of this beautiful country and even to go on a short trip to Jordan. But Tel Aviv itself is also a lively city with lots of things to see and do: the beach, parks, cafés, bars, clubs.
My time in Tel Aviv was surely unforgettable and I am grateful for having had the opportunity to be with the Heskia Hacmun team.
